Thank you for choosing to consign with Your Kids Closet!  Here are some basic guidelines for making your consignor experience quick, easy, and profitable.  Let’s get started!

Gather your tools

Your Kids Closet has some general guidelines that we ask you to follow when preparing your items for sale.  The following “tool kit” will enable you to best prepare your inventory for drop-off.

White Card Stock – 60lb weight or similar, matte finish.  Basic printer/copy paper is not accepted.

Safety Pins – all sizes.  Safety pins are the primary method of securing tags to clothing.  Be sure to use appropriate sizes on appropriate fabrics.

Tagging Gun – can be a useful tool if used properly.  Use caution to avoid ruining your garment.  Choose a gun with very fine needles and attach the tag through the items care tags or along a seam.  You will want to reinforce your cardstock tag with tape to prevent the tag ripping off the plastic hanger.

Zip ties – variety of sizes.  Very useful for securing shoes together or toys/items with multiple pieces.  Some consignors choose to use zip ties to secure tags to clothing through a buttonhole.

Packing Tape – safely secures tags to plastic bags and flat toys, books, etc.  May also be useful for bundling items with multiple pieces.

Ziplock baggies – including quart to gallon sizes.  Recommended for bundling lower priced items in quantity – i.e. infant socks, onesies or receiving blankets.  Also useful for containing small pieces in toys, games, or puzzles.  Shoes that cannot be attached with a zip tie may be paired together in a large ziplock bag.

Rubberbands – all sizes.  Useful for bundling multiple piece outfits together.

Hangers, hangers, hangers…  With the exception of infant onesies, socks, and bibs, all clothing must be on hangers .

Good Ideas

The following items are not necessary for the proper preparation but have been used by consignors in the past and may be useful for you.

Ribbon- assorted sizes and lengths.  Makes a favorable presentation when bundling bedding, blankets, towels, or bibs.

Shrink Wrap- Useful for securing puzzle pieces and bundling books and videos.
